Fish day in Astrakhan
Today, the Astrakhan region has no shortage of sturgeon through aquaculture enterprises. Helping them to develop the cluster, which includes 46 participants.
The fact that Astrakhan is a true fish edge, it becomes clear already in the arrival hall of the domestic airport on advertising posters and assortment of souvenir shops. In specialty stores and even the city market from the abundance of the delicacies of the king-fish dazzled – dried, and smoked, in a variety of cuts, fillets, steaks, balyk, canned food and, of course, indispensable to the eggs of all varieties. Do not even say that the industrial catch of sturgeon in the Caspian sea closed for several years.
No shortage of sturgeon on the shelves – the direct contribution of the local hatcheries. In 2014, many of them became part of a cluster of “Aquaculture and fisheries of the Astrakhan region”.
“This is the first fish cluster in Russia, this year he was five years – says the President of the Association “Astrakhanenergo”, the management company of the cluster, Elena Fucking. – At first we had only aquaculture, but gradually, the cluster grows with new members, took miners and processors. Today it includes 46 enterprises and organizations”.
According to the regional government, last year alone, Astrakhan farmers raised 21 thousand tons of marketable fish. The hallmark of the industry, of course, remain sturgeon: their share in total production is about 1000 tons and 12 tons of caviar. It relict fish along with caviar, the most coveted souvenir from Astrakhan in the eyes of any tourist.
Recent years, the largest growth in the region shows the industrial sturgeon breeding. Charge one of the leaders of this direction “Astrakhan fish-breeding company “Beluga”, is installed in the gateway vododelitelya on the Volga, near the city of Narimanov. The number of unique sturgeon population, which is grown in running water, is more than 350 tons.
“It is the females which have already deposited at the fish-breeding season in 2019. Elite individuals, who were selected for all interior-exterior signs. In sturgeon herd we have only net types – Beluga, Russian sturgeon, ship, sterlet”.
But not a single sturgeon Astrakhan is rich in land. According to Elena Fucking, deep processing, when the added value will remain in the region – an extremely important activity for improving the competitiveness of enterprises – participants of the cluster. It is not only additional income, but also the solution of problems with the sale of live fish, which escalates every year.
However, diversification of production is a costly affair. And here comes the fish farmers cluster, informing them of Federal and regional programs of support of agricultural producers the possibility of obtaining loans at concessional interest rates and grants for small and medium businesses and helping them to participate in these projects.
“A cluster is a tool that opens new horizons, – believes Elena Fucking. – Our common goal is the increase and the formation of a closed production chain to make our company efficient and profitable.”
