In 2019 will start a five-year program to study deep-sea biological resources
As have informed in a press – service of Russian Federal fisheries Agency, in Russia, in 2019 we will begin implementing a five-year program to study deep-sea fish stocks and crabs of the far Eastern seas: their development will allow to increase volume of extraction of water biological resources of 1.8 million tonnes.
The intersectoral project of the target program “Research and development of biological resources of deep water zone of the far Eastern seas” approved by the Board of Directors of the research institutes of the Agency at the meeting, which was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Minister of agriculture of the Russian Federation – the head of Federal Agency for fishery Ilya Shestakov, 19 Dec.
The program will be implemented in the framework of the agreement of the Federal Agency for fishery of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Among the participants: branch research institutes of the Agency, “national research center of marine biology” of the far Eastern branch of RAS, JSC “Fishing collective farm “Vostok-1”.
The aim of the project was to increase the volume explored and exploited stocks of aquatic bioresources. It is planned to assess the condition of biological resources at great depths and mesopelagial the far Eastern seas; to select objects, and promising for the organization of the fishery; to calculate the economic efficiency of development of bioresources great depths and mesopelagial; to develop recommendations on the use of efficient tools and methods of fishing deep-sea, benthic, mesopelagic objects.
Scientists are exploring the biochemical properties of organs and tissues of fish and invertebrates, the safety performance of potential fisheries for compliance with the requirements of technical regulations. Great attention will be paid to the development of technologies for waste-free processing of deep-water, benthic fishes and invertebrates with obtaining food, feed, technical products and biologics.
Deep-sea fish, as a rule, inferior to traditional objects for the market “values”, so the main direction of research – a complex, waste-free processing. Thus, it is proposed the use of muscle tissue for the production of food products with dietary properties; liver as source of fat, serving as raw material for production of dietary Supplements, feed products and cosmetics.
Processing of deepwater crabs will produce not only meat and canned goods. Their shells and innards are raw materials for the production of food and technical products (especially collagenase), as well as biologics.
The program implementation will allow to increase:
the volume of fishing for far Eastern basin is 1.8 million tons (in the basis of calculation – the number of vessels working in the far East);
food production – 150 thousand tons;
the production of fodder and technical production, in the first stage of flour – 340 thousand tons.
Income from the sale of surplus production is estimated at 29.4 billion; tax revenues to the budgets of different levels – 920 million rubles. The potential multiplier effect will be felt in related sectors: shipbuilding, Shiprepair, mechanical engineering, agriculture, food industry, trade.
“The project is clear, all approaches are correct, everything is spelled out clearly, it is necessary to coordinate it with the Russian Academy of Sciences, to approve and to move further in the framework of this program”, – said Ilya Shestakov.
Director of TINRO-Center Alexei, Bitalic (TINRO-Centre – developer) presented the results of feasibility studies conducted in 2018. Baseline assessment on the materials of field works confirm the stock level of snow crab of ungulates in the North-Okhotsk sea and East Sakhalin subzones, show the growth of a population Beloglazova Grenadier in the sea of Okhotsk and Eastern Kamchatka. In addition, new proven reserves of crab strigun of ungulates in the Western Bering sea zone, East Kamchatka and North Kuriles.
“In General, the input to craft new pieces of stock will increase the ODE angulatus the pool at least 3 tons, maximum – 30 thousand tons, Grenadier – 50 thousand tons”, – said Alexey Bitalic.
Ilya Shestakov drew attention to the question of the degree of demand for this type of crab. Director of TINRO Center reported that the development of the ODE angulatus, for example, in the East Sakhalin subzone is increasing annually.
The head of the Agency commissioned a working meeting with the fishermen of the Far East in order to discuss proposals for new stocks of crabs, technical issues, and the economy and the prospects of the fishing.
