“Sarcophagus” poaching sturgeon found under the ground
In the Astrakhan region, the poachers hid their catches in an underground hideout with a freezer. Security forces seized nearly 100 kg of fish of sturgeon kinds.
In Volodarsky district, two local residents came to the Delta of the Volga river in the canoe with outboard motor. Near the island Wcaty networks they caught Russian sturgeon and Beluga, reported Fishnews in the press service of UMVD of Russia across the Astrakhan region. Malefactors were detained by the police, Regardie and the Agency.
Seized vehicle GPS Navigator and nearly 100 kg of sturgeon. Ichthyological research showed that the attackers used forbidden fishing gear. As it turned out, after illegal fishing, the canoe was put on a makeshift pier on the banks of the river Tsarev. Here was a underground hiding place with a freezer, which was hiding the unlawful catch.
It is established that one of the people involved already has a criminal record for poaching, and the second was prosecuted for cultivation of narcocontaining plants. The detainees were released under recognizance not to leave, a criminal case under article 258.1 of the criminal code (illegal production of particularly valuable aquatic biological resources listed in the Red book of the Russian Federation).
