Also, experts NCMB conducted a comparative analysis of deep-sea fauna of the sea of Okhotsk and northwestern Pacific ocean. It is established that the deep-water Straits between the Kuril Islands are not a barrier for the penetration of deep sea species from the Pacific to the sea of Okhotsk. The majority of species (68%) detected at the maximum depths of the Okhotsk sea, lives in the bathyal and abyssal zones of the Pacific ocean, the document says.
