Vologda oblast: River Kubena supplemented juveniles nelma
10 and 11 October under the supervision of a staff of Severo-the Western territorial administration of Federal Agency for fishery in the river Kubena Vologda region produced 74 420 individuals of white salmon.
In reservoirs of North-West Russia, the white salmon is one of the most valuable and at the same time, rare species of fish.
In the Kubensky lake, this species formed a unique freshwater residential form, which was one of the most important commercial objects in the last century. Self-reproducing populations spawn in the major tributaries of the kubenskoe lake – rivers Kubena, Big Elma, Uftuga, Beam and others.
However, by the mid-twentieth century high commercial load undermined the stocks of white salmon. By the end of 1960-ies of the nelma in the Kubensky lake not only lost commercial importance, but was on the verge of extinction, which determined the necessity to start work on its artificial reproduction.
Currently, in order to increase the population kubanskoy white salmon cultured juveniles zaryblyayut the main spawning tributary of lake Kobenkova river Kubena. With 2015, the experts released to the natural habitat of more than 17 million copies of the white salmon.
