The Ministry of environment has published the new list of animals proposed for inclusion in the Red book of Russia. From the previous revision of the document removed, in particular, edible oyster and sturgeon populations of the Kuban sturgeon, but added Baltic trout.
New draft order of the Ministry of natural resources on the portal regulation.gov.ru contains only one list is “a list of objects of fauna listed in the Red book of the Russian Federation”. The previous draft (published in may) contains two lists: as included and excluded types.
As the correspondent of Fishnews, the previous proposed list of “red” are removed, in particular, the edible oyster (Ostrea edulis), which was previously planned to include in the environmental document (except for black sea populations), and sterlet (Acipenser ruthenus) population of the basin of the Kuban river. Edible oyster have been attributed to the species “declining in numbers and/or distribution” in Russia and “threatened species” in the world, and the Kuban sturgeon populations to “threatened with extinction” and in Russia and in the world.
At the same time, in the new draft list has additionally included the Baltic trout (Salmo trutta trutta) populations of the basin of the Ladoga and Onega lakes. This object was attributed to “declining in numbers and/or distribution” in Russia and “vulnerable” globally.
Public discussion of the new draft order will last until June 24.
